The Tampa Bay Health & Medical Preparedness Coalition (Tampa Bay HMPC) is dedicated to building healthcare system disaster preparedness, inter-agency communication, post-disaster recovery, and resiliency. Several major disasters have illustrated a need to further develop the healthcare system’s preparedness, communications, and resiliency.

Our partnerships are focused on engaging ALL members of the health & medical system across the West Central Florida area including Citrus, Hardee, Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, and Sumter Counties. Our primary goal is to improve preparedness and resiliency levels among large and small healthcare organizations so they can survive disasters and quickly return to normal operations after a major event. This approach not only benefits the larger community, but it ensures your organization can provide better service to your patients and can remain financially viable.

We achieve these objectives through the following efforts:
• Sharing of disaster preparedness best practices among coalition partners
• Cooperative planning, training, and exercises to test and hone our skills
• Providing healthcare system partners large and small with access to disaster preparedness, response, and recovery resources to enhance their speedy recovery
• Funding of projects to address identified preparedness gaps within the healthcare system

Another of our goals is to assist healthcare partners comply with new emergency preparedness regulations developed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). These new rules will have a major impact on any healthcare organization that’s not prepared. One element of these new rules is active participation with the local or regional healthcare coalition. We are the group your organization will need to participate with to comply with this new requirement.
